People Like Me goes digital – can your company help us reach 200,000 girls?
People Like Me is a revolutionary approach to engaging girls with careers in Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM). People Like Me uses the natural tendency of girls to articulate their self-identity using adjectives, to show them that people like them are happy and successful working in careers in STEM.
The approach uses ready-made resources for staff doing outreach, teachers and others to be delivered to groups of girls. It was developed based on the ‘Following the success of People Like Me, WISE is collaborating with techUK on an ambitious plan to reach 200,000 girls, showing them that STEM subjects will open doors to a variety of jobs to suit their personality type.
Over 60 people from 40 different companies came to the announcement of People Like Me goes digital project on 31 January 2017.
The Call to Business
The call now is for your company to come forward and get involved with the project and help us reach this ambitious target. There is tiered sponsorship available - ranging from Founding Sponsors who will help steer the project to options for businesses with smaller budgets to commit. Our aim is to persuade more girls to choose STEM subjects, apprenticeships or other STEM vocational qualifications when they choose options at 16.

Building on the revolutionary approach of the original People Like Me resource, People Like Me: Pathways to Apprenticeships is an outreach resource aimed at helping girls and young women aged 14-19 to understand that they can be happy and successful on STEM apprenticeships.
