Head of Renewable Energy Association joins WISE Board

The WISE Board and team are proud to have welcomed two new Non-Executive Directors to the campaign this month; their commitment and expertise will be invaluable to help drive the mission forward.

WISE member, Dr Nina Skorupska, is thrilled to have joined the WISE Board: “I am delighted to have been appointed and look forward to adding my ‘WISE energy’ to the team. 2014 is WISE’s 30th anniversary year and it is very much an important focus to help bring together the passionate players in wanting to make a difference and create a stronger and more powerful voice. I very much look forward to being a part of this drive for change.”

Nina, Chief Executive of the Renewable Energy Association and a Supervisory Board member for DNV GL Energy in the Netherlands joins the WISE Board with the benefit of over 25 years experience in the energy sector, both in the UK and Europe. Nina’s career highlights include being appointed the first female Power Station Manager of an RWE npower power station and serving on the Board of Essent, the largest Energy Company in the Netherlands.

Keith PurvesAdditionally, joining the WISE board with a wealth of experience in the technology sector is Dr Keith Purves who is also a Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry. He brings a considerable international background to the WISE Board having previously held executive roles with the Eastman Kodak Company, Oracle and Sun Microsystems. Keith has travelled extensively in the course of his work and is a true believer in the value of diversity.

On his appointment, Keith commented: “The UKRC, WISE and other organisations have worked hard to improve the participation and retention of women in STEM roles in the UK. I am delighted to have the opportunity to add my contribution to the work of the WISE team and look forward to getting engaged immediately.”

WISE Director Helen Wollaston said: "I am very pleased to welcome Nina and Keith to the board. Their energy, experience and commitment is already making a positive contribution, helping us to scale up the campaign."

Celebrating their 30 year anniversary in 2014, WISE continues to grow their influence in the UK and reach women and girls, from classroom to boardroom, inspiring them to pursue STEM subjects as pathways to exciting and fulfilling careers.
