Brenda has responsibility for the national Siemens Education portfolio, working with stakeholders to attract, encourage and engage young people into choosing STEM options and thereby consider a career in engineering and technology. Working on behalf of Siemens, Brenda is passionate about addressing the gender imbalance in the number of girls studying, applying and progressing into these well paid, stimulating and expanding professions.
Siemens UK has received global awards for the accessibility and impact of their on- line education resources but the team felt they needed to proactively do more. Therefore Brenda is working with colleagues and partners to create opportunities that not only inspire and excite future female employees but develop current staff to support delivery of an interactive, curriculum-linked experience, exploring modern women’s ground breaking contributions to science, technology and engineering, taking the audience on a journey into the world of STEM with captivating live stage experiments.
After Grammar School, Brenda began her career, aged 16, as a British Aerospace Apprentice, leaving nine years later, to gain a PGCE and a career in lecturing and teaching before joining GM Chamber’s Education Business Partnership as a Teacher Development and Employer Liaison Manager working with major employers on education business link strategies. Brenda has acted as an Engineering Academy Curriculum Governor, National Employer Group Chair (BDT), among other strategic advisory body roles in both education and industry.
Brenda leads a team tasked to develop curriculum resources that not only showcase world megatrends but the need for a diverse and talented workforce that reflects the whole community we live and work in. Brenda fully understands the challenges young talent face in terms of getting their foot on the career ladder and with strong support from WISE aims to make that first rung easier for our female population
