WISE themed event at The Warwick School

​20 women STEM Ambassadors and volunteers took part in another major WISE themed event

The event took place at The Warwick School (Redhill, Surrey) on Friday May 1 where they took part a “speed dating” type careers session with 75 secondary school girls from 4 local schools. Later in the event the students worked in teams with the support of the women volunteers on a technology challenge competition to make a motorised buggy that could meet certain targets.

Dr Liz Carter, Senior Science Technician at The Warwick School said: “This is an annual event here at the school and is part of the school’s ongoing programme of promoting STEM careers to our girls and we are always so pleased to get such enthusiastic support for these events from so many women working in STEM careers who want to share their passion for their work and to enthuse young people, particularly girls students."

The Warwick School was a joint winner of the UKRC’s WISE Champion category in 2011 for its programme of promoting STEM careers to girl students from schools in the area.
