WISE Knowledge Sharing Event at BCS Women

There was a very successful WISE knowledge sharing breakfast event held on 3rd July. It was entitled 'Women in Technology; the Employment Value Proposition' and was hosted by WISE Members BCS, The Chartered Institute for IT in their offices on Southampton Street in London. Gillian Arnold, WISE Board member and chair of BCS Women Specialist Group opened the event by giving a summary of the month long BCS Women in IT Campaign which is encouraging women of all ages to consider a career in IT: BCS WIT. Sarah Hill, CEO at Capability Jane, with James Evans of BP then shared the conclusions of their research project into 'Attracting and recruiting women in technology'. They covered what a compelling employment value proposition looks like for highly qualified women in technology, highlighting the key career drivers for senior women in technology and how they differ from men.

Sarah Shaw from WISE gave an update about the WISE Awards 2014 and Lynne Palmer from WISE talked about corporate partnerships and the Consultancy Industry Led Ten Steps that WISE is developing with the Royal Academy of Engineering. This was followed by some excellent networking opportunities and discussion about how attendees could make recruitment adverts more compelling for women.
