The S Factor

The S Factor was a series of free participatory science events for adults, running from November 2009 to the end of March 2010.

S Factor logoOur aim: to interest and inspire adults to find out more about science, including people who may have had little or no science education, or who may not have been involved in science events for many years. The UKRC led the project, ensuring that women scientists were an important part of the initiative.

The project was led by the UKRC, in partnership with the Museum of Science and Industry (Manchester), Thackray Medical Museum (Leeds),Otley Science Festival, Vera Media and South Leeds Community Radio. This exciting combination of organisations enabled the project to bring together lots of energy, expertise and ideas, along with strong outreach to lots of different communities.

To support the S Factor, UKRC offered gender equality training to all the partners, and media training to women scientists in the north of England.

The project was funded by the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills through the Learning Revolution Transformation Fund.
