Get into GEAR (Gender Equality Action Research) was an exciting action research project funded through the West Yorkshire Life Long Learning Network and run by the UKRC.
Four local colleges and universities in West Yorkshire were engaged in action research to explore practical ways of creating an environment within their institution which was conducive to both men and women, with a focus on students in science, engineering, technology and the built environment.
The project started off with a First GEAR event which incorporated elements of Gender Equality training and information about how to carry out action research. The Second GEAR event provided an opportunity for participants to share their progress and plan the next stages. The Third GEAR event was for writing up and disseminating the findings at Top GEAR. The project ended in summer 2010.
