Chief of the Division of Cancer Biostatistics
The division houses 11 faculty and 20 staff, with a focus on collaborations within the Vanderbilt-Ingram Cancer Center.
Successful candidates will have demonstrated track records in statistical and collaborative research and a desire to actively participate in our graduate student training. For the open leadership positions, we seek visionary leaders with internationally recognized scholarship, with a commitment to mentoring, faculty career development, and team-oriented research. Applicants must have a PhD or equivalent degree in biostatistics, statistics, or relevant quantitative fields.

The Department of Biostatistics, founded in 2003, is currently home to 33 faculty, 21 staff biostatisticians, 15 IT staff, and 35 graduate students, and continues to expand rapidly, especially to meet the challenges of the booming data science era. Department members participate in methodological research, as well as collaborative efforts ranging from basic science,to translational and clinical research, to big data questions across avariety of domains. In particular in the big data space, the BioVU resource, which houses more than a quarter million unique biospecimens along with anonymized clinical annotation data, is an increasingly rich source of genomic and phenomic data, available to Vanderbilt faculty for interrogation of questions of interest.
Within the department, specializations include the Division of Cancer Biostatistics, along with several centers: Center for Quantitative Sciences, Collaborative Studies Comprehensive Coordinating Center, and Omics Coordinating Center. The department places a strong emphasis on continuing education and professional development. Department faculty are expected to become statistical data scientists, on the forefront of biomedical research, as well as contributors to the body of knowledge in the biomedical field. Opportunities for contribution and collaboration exist across a number of prominent Vanderbilt centers, representing various disease and knowledge domains.
