We are seeking to recruit a Chair in Catalysis who will also hold the post of Director of the Cardiff Catalysis Institute (CCI). The CCI, a world class research-driven institute that is fully embedded within the School of Chemistry, Cardiff University, aims to improve our understanding of catalysis, develop new catalytic processes with industry and promote the use of catalysis as a sustainable 21st century technology.
The Director is expected to establish their world leading programme of research within the Cardiff Catalysis Institute, providing long-term vision and leadership, which both supports the day-to-day management and develops the strategic direction of the Institute. They will provide expertise in catalysis research, together with the ability to attract continued support and funding from organisations and individuals keen to see breakthroughs in the field. A primary role of the post holder will be to foster an environment to provide research support, training and education to researchers, collaborators and postgraduate students, and to develop and promote the Institute as a pre-eminent research facility at local, national and international levels.
Applications are sought from candidates whose research and teaching interests complement and enhance the existing strengths of the CCI and the School of Chemistry. They should also further strengthen existing partnerships with related disciplines, and foster dynamic research collaborations within the University and beyond. Candidates must have an excellent publication and track record and must have obtained substantial research funding and support. The successful candidate will also be expected to contribute to the ambitious teaching aspirations of the School at both Undergraduate and Postgraduate levels.

This post will be full-time (35 hours per week) and open-ended.
The salary will be on the professorial scale and will be a competitive salary commensurate with the experience and achievements of the successful applicant’.
